If you’ve been around for a while, you probably already know that we raised 2M euro to start transforming the recruitment market in Europe. But how exactly did we do it? And more importantly, why? Let’s see!
Did we deserve a first investment round of almost 2 million euros?
Yes. Yes, we did.
At this point, you’re probably asking yourself, what the hell is nPloy anyway. Simple:
nPloy is here to reinvent how you’ll be looking for your next job opportunity. We’ve created a user-friendly mobile application (and a web version, of course) that only shows you jobs that match your professional profile and (get this) salary expectations.
Back in 2018, we saw more than a couple of issues in the old job-searching model so rather than just complain, we decided to change it completely. Hopefully, you will appreciate how we integrated an AI-based algorithm to save you from mindlessly scrolling through irrelevant jobs. You can save the endless scrolling for TikTok. But can you imagine how many people would use the app if the algorithm there sucked? Almost a billion users will delete the app quicker than a swipe, we guarantee.
What’s so special about nPloy?
Where should we begin?
Well, leaving the whole AI-based-so-smart-and-time-saving thing aside (which you shouldn’t), we also made the application process anonymous. We believe that recruitment should be bias-free. That’s why when you apply for a position, the company will see your full CV, except all of your personal information - name, photo, email, and phone number. Oh, and by the way, this idea was born before the official GDPR legislation was introduced in Europe.
Thanks to all users being anonymous, we added a database where candidates can get invited to apply for jobs. Talk about turning the tables. Yes, it’s stressful to apply for jobs, and honestly, it kind of feels like dating, right? It’s always easier and more flattering when someone else makes the first move. So we thought, why not reverse the roles and make recruiters apply for you? Hopefully, the 2 million is starting to make more sense by now.
How to secure a first round of investment?
Here are some tips.
To win an investment from a VC firm, one will have to demonstrate the market potential and the scalability of a business model. You would need to present a well-defined product development and marketing strategy, and show how you’d differentiate yourself from existing competitors. So, that’s basically what we did.
Our future is exciting, and who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? We plan to continuously improve the algorithm by leveraging emerging AI technologies and using data-driven approaches to make nPloy better, and present added value to both candidates and recruiters.
What’s even more exciting is that we want to become a market equalizer, in a sense - if a salary or competencies are above or below market expectations, we’ll be the ones to go “Oh, no you didn’t!”. We strongly believe in equally distributed and accessible information flow in the labor market.
We are here to make being taken advantage of obsolete. Or we’ll just leave it for the other job boards. 🙂
